The Bobcat Run:
rain, mud and sweat

freshmen girls getting ready to race |
For seven years Hamilton has been attending the Bobcat run at Byram Hills. In fact, it is one of the most anticipated meets of the year.
But, in all of those years we never had weather like this. In fact, according to Aiello this was the worst weather he could ever remember for a Hamilton XC meet.

nothing but mud |
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a steady, cold, October rain. It never eased up during the whole morning. Shivering and cold our team shuttled back and forth between the warm, dry gym and our somewhat soggy tent. Yet, despite it all, not once did anyone on our team moan, complain or whine about having to compete in these conditions. They just sucked it up, headed for the starting line and took care of business. Needless to say, the conditions were not exactly ideal for fast running.

Somehow though Ryan did manage to take 40 seconds off his best 5K time. Hats off to the whole gang for showing some serious pluck and determination. Hey, it can't get much worse than that.
